Oyetola assures investors of safety, friendly environment

Governor Gboyega Oyetola of Osun State yesterday assured the people that the state is safe for investment.

He promised that government would make adequate provision for security at all times in all parts of the state.

The governor described last week’s abduction and subsequent freedom for six employees of Osun State College of Technology, Esa Oke, in which one of them was killed, as unfortunate.

In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Adeniyi
Adesina, Oyetola said: “Nobody should entertain any fear in the state, because of that unfortunate development.

Oyetola explained that the 16 hours of electricity supply in the state, especially in Osogbo, is a sign that the Osun State is ready for investments.

He condoled with the family, the community and the school authority over the death of the kidnapped victim.

Also yesterday, the governor promised to run a media-friendly administration, because it would drive the state government’s investment programme.

He gave the pledge when he received the management team of Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) Osogbo, led by its General Manager, Mr. Waheed Amusa.

Oyetola, who described the media as a veritable instrument for socio-economic and political advancement of any society, said his government would partner it in the implementation of its policies and programmes.

Amusa said the visit was to renew the partnership between the state and the NTA, disclosing that the station has acquired new equipment to boost its reach.

Manager, News and Current Affairs, Kunle Adebayo, Manager, Programmes, Mrs. Deola Ganiyu,‎ Marketing Manager, Monday Ocholi and Chief Accountant, Mrs‎ Mayowa Oyegoke, accompanied the general manager on the visit.

Meanwhile, the governor has urged residents to pay their taxes regularly to enable the government to discharge its responsibilities to the people.

He spoke at the weekend in his hometown, during the 27th Iragbiji Day and launching of Development Funds.

The governor told the people that major programmes of the government, such as the feeding of pupils, security of lives and property and provision of amenities couldn’t be carried out unless there are resources.

“We cannot continue to rely on revenue from the federation account,” adding that part of the government’s plan is to raise the state’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) without adding to the people’s burden.
