The Osun State labour union has given the Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, 21days ultimatum to pay their salaries and pension backlog or face Industrial action.
The labour union under the Osun State Joint Public Service Negotiating Council, in a communique sent to Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola after an extensive meeting held by the joint labour movement on Tuesday, August 7th 2018, threatened strike action.
In the communique, the attention of the Governor was brought to the memorandum of understanding between the Osun state Government and the leadership of the labour Union, signed on Saturday, 30th December, 2017, which the government has failed to honour.
The labour union lamented the deplorable condition of their members, plagued with hardship, sickness and avoidable death, agony and penury due to the insensitivity of the Government to attend to the deteroriating welfare of the workers.
The labour movement thereby resolved to embark on strike action if their five points of demands highlighted were not met within 21 days.
Lastly, they resolved that July 2018 and subsequent salaries and pension be paid in full, payment of the backlogs of areas of salaries and pension from September 2015 till date be paid with immediate effect, remittance of backlog of contributory pension of workers to the pension fund administrator (PFA) be effected immediately, that payment of gratuity to all categories of pensioners and those who retired under contributory pension be effected immediately, that payment of 2016 leave bonus be paid to all categories of workers immediately.
