The National Chairman of the South West Agenda for Asiwaju (SWAGA), Senator Dayo Adeyeye, has urged Osun voters to elect the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), saying it is President Bola Tinubu’s desire for the party to reclaim the state in the August 15 governorship election.
Adeyeye spoke at the launch of SWAGA 2.0, organised to mobilise support for Tinubu’s re-election bid ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
He said the President had made it clear that he wanted the APC to return to power in Osun, stressing that the state would benefit more by aligning with the ruling party at the federal level.
According to him, Tinubu’s support for Oyebamiji is unwavering and the APC candidate remains the President’s preferred choice for the election.
“We want Osun to be with us. The President’s message is clear: don’t let anyone deceive you. The President’s candidate in the Osun State governorship election is AMBO, the APC governorship candidate. The President has said he wants the APC to govern Osun State,” Adeyeye said.
He argued that an APC victory would position Osun to attract greater federal support and accelerate development.
Adeyeye added that if Tinubu returns to Osun to campaign for a second term in 2027, he would want to be received by an APC governor.
“If the President comes to campaign next year for his re-election, he will want AMBO to be the one welcoming him as the Governor of Osun State,” he said.
He urged residents to vote for both Tinubu and the APC governorship candidate, describing the election as an opportunity for Osun to return to the progressive fold and strengthen its relationship with the Federal Government.
In her remark, earlier, the Chairman of the Federal Character Commission, Hon. Ayo Omidiran, described the governorship candidate, AMBO, as a competent administrator with the experience, integrity and vision required to lead Osun State.
According to her, AMBO possesses the administrative competence, financial discipline and strategic thinking needed to drive economic growth, create jobs, improve healthcare, strengthen education and expand infrastructure across the state.
She appealed to eligible voters to come out en masse on August 15 and vote for the APC candidate, stressing that their votes would shape the future of Osun State.
