By Mustapha Aleem

Some sections of students in the Osun State University, might have decided to lock horns with the management of the institution following the addition of a sum of N7,000 naira to their tuition fee, with a condition of N20,000 naira for late payment.

The school management had in Parents Forum meeting, which was held recently, reached the decision.

And according to a notice posted on the website of the institution, School fees should be paid by the second week of resumption, after the the third week failure to pay part or full payment of the school fees will attract N20,000.00 extra.

It added that students who failed to attend 70% of lectures would not be allowed to write the examination for such semester.

The Vice President-elect of the Faculty of Humanities of UNIOSUN, Adekunle Akorede, reacted to the development by describing the move by the school management as ‘obnoxious and detrimental’.

He berated the school management for hiking their school fees when economic recession was taking its toll on the country.

In his post on whatsapp, Akorede said, “We are going to fight against this and so we are starting this fight with a consultation first. I am imploring you honorable students of UNIOSUN to please attend a meeting in school tomorrow where we will draft a letter to the school management airing our grievances.

“It is unfair and unjust and if we let this take hold without fighting it at the root now, we will end up paying the proposed N150,000 naira because they will keep cooking up things for us to pay for.
