LAUTECH: ASUU worried over Tinubu’s silence

By Femi Adesola

The zonal President of the Academic Staff Union of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Ogbomoso, Dr Adejumo has expressed dissatisfaction over the Silence of the Pro Chancellor of the institution, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, towards the crises rocking the school.

He made this disclosure while featuring on a radio program (Frank Talk) on Rave 91.7 Fm, Oshogbo recently.

Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu is the Chairman, Governing Council of the school and also the National Leader of the party, All Progressives Congress (APC), controlling the two owner-states, Oyo and Osun.

The zonal coordinator of ASUU berated Tinubu for turning blind eyes to the problem of funding which had disrupted academic activities in the institution.

“We are worried about the silence of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Lautech issue, it will surprise you that since this crisis broke out, Aiwaju has not altered a single statement, talkless of taking a trip to Lautech to see for himself what was going on, we made several attempts to reach out to him but all failed.

“The national body of our union wrote letter to him to see him that has not been positive, he has been elusive. I don’t know whether he doesn’t want to talk about Lautech issue.

“The last time we saw Bola Tinubu on Lautech campus was in 2014 during his investiture, when he came with crowd including President Buhari, he wasn’t the President then, that was the last time he ever visited that institution. He has been keeping quiet, even to call his boys in Oyo and Osun to order he has refused.

“Being a Chancellor of a university is a huge responsibility, if somebody don’t want to carry that responsibility, it is honourable for that person to say so and let them look for somebody that will be more responsible for the institution as Chancellor,” he emphasized.

Recall that the school had embarked on a 8 month long strike, which they just resumed last February.

The Academic Staff Union had issued another two weeks warning strike which would birth an indefinite strike if the founding states (Oyo and Osun) and the union fail to close rank.
