The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Osun State Council, has declared a three-day warning strike over the continued withholding of statutory allocations for the 30 local government areas in the state.
The strike, in solidarity with the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), will commence at midnight on Sunday, November 8, 2026.
The action follows the expiration of a seven-day ultimatum earlier issued to the Federal Government and the Osun State Government.
In a statement jointly signed by the State Chairperson, Christopher Arapasopo, and Secretary, Victor Amusan, the Congress said the issues raised in the ultimatum remain unresolved.
“Following the expiration of the seven-day ultimatum issued to the Federal Government and Osun State Government over the continued withholding of Local Government statutory allocations, the Congress regrets to inform all affiliate unions that the issues raised remain unresolved,” the statement read.
The decision was taken in line with resolutions reached at its emergency State Executive Council (SEC) meeting held on Wednesday, October 28, 2026.
The NLC directed all affiliate unions in the state to communicate the decision to their members in writing and ensure full compliance.
It warned that any affiliate union found working against the strike directive would face disciplinary measures.
The Congress stressed that the struggle over local government allocations should not be seen as NULGE’s concern alone, but as a collective responsibility of the entire labour movement.
