The campaign organisation of the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial candidate for Osun West, Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi, has disowned loan forms circulating in his name asking members of the public to pay to qualify for N50,000 loans.
The forms, which have been circulating in parts of Osun West, reportedly demand payments ranging from N100 to N500 and above as processing fees for the purported loan scheme.
In a disclaimer issued on Wednesday, the campaign described the arrangement as fake and fraudulent, stressing that it did not originate from Dr. Ogunbiyi or his organisation.
The campaign stated that Dr. Ogunbiyi, would never ask members of the public to pay money to benefit from any of his interventions.
“Anyone collecting N100, N500 or any other amount for such forms is not acting for the campaign,” the statement said, warning that those behind the act are scammers and political jobbers seeking to defraud unsuspecting residents and tarnish the candidate’s image.
It further clarified that there is no loan programme currently being run through Dr. Ogunbiyi or his campaign organisation, and that he does not require payment in cash or kind before benefiting from any humanitarian gesture.
The organisation urged residents of Osun West to be vigilant and to verify any information attributed to Dr. Ogunbiyi through appropriate and official channels before acting on it.
