Some members of the State Executive Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State have rejected the recently released list of the party’s Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), demanding an immediate review.
The officials, in an official rejoinder, expressed dissatisfaction with the composition of the council, saying it failed to reflect party guidelines, due process and the principle of inclusiveness.
The statement was signed by the State Publicity Secretary, Wole Adunola; Welfare Officer, Deaconess Adesola Ayangbile; Assistant Organising Secretary, Rasheed Adeniji; and Ex-Officio, Abiola Ololade.
In the statement, the signatories declared: “We therefore reject the list in its present form.”
They faulted the omission of several members of the State Working Committee who, by the party’s guidelines, are statutory members of the council.
“The exclusion of these recognised party officials raises serious concerns about consultation, due process, and respect for the party’s established leadership structure,” they said.
The officials also noted that the new list appeared inconsistent with an earlier presidential directive reportedly naming Governor Ademola Adeleke as Director-General of the Presidential Campaign Council in Osun.
According to them, following the directive, Governor Adeleke had promptly inaugurated a broad-based campaign team to drive the presidential campaign across the state.
They questioned why a different structure has now emerged without clarification or alignment with the existing arrangement.
“However, if the newly released list is intended to serve as a Parliamentary Campaign Council rather than the Presidential Campaign Council, its composition would be more understandable. This distinction must be clearly established to avoid confusion, duplication of responsibilities, and unnecessary friction,” the statement added.
The signatories maintained that the State Executive Committee remains an integral part of the APC’s organisational framework and cannot be sidelined in constituting a state-wide campaign council.
They called for immediate consultations with relevant stakeholders, including the National Secretary of the party, Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru, and the State Director-General, to ensure proper alignment and coordination.
Reaffirming their loyalty, the officials said they remain fully committed to the success of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC, but insisted on a campaign council that respects party structures, recognises legitimate leadership and accommodates critical stakeholders.
DAILY POST had earlier reported that the Osun APC appointed its governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, as Director-General of its 2027 Presidential and Parliamentary Campaign Committee.
The State Chairman, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, in a statement on Monday, confirmed the constitution of the campaign committee and a 58-member Elders’ Council, saying the appointments followed the inauguration of the APC Presidential Campaign Council by President Tinubu in Abuja on October 14, 2026, and the inauguration of the Osun State PCC by Governor Adeleke on October 22.
