Adeleke unveils Osun Tinubu Campaign Council, targets 1.5 million votes

Governor Ademola Adeleke has inaugurated the Osun State Presidential Campaign Council for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, with a declaration that the state would deliver over 1.5 million votes for the President.

The inauguration ceremony, held on Wednesday in Osogbo, drew a rainbow coalition of political heavyweights from the All Progressives Congress, Accord Party and the Peoples Democratic Party.

Addressing the gathering, Adeleke described those present as the finest political operators in the state.

“In this hall is a gathering of who is who in Osun political terrain. We have all the strikers, the defenders and the midfielders. This rainbow coalition of Accord, APC and PDP structures is superbly potent to deliver Osun overwhelmingly to Mr President,” he said.

The governor clarified that the alliance was solely for the presidential election slated for January 16.

“Our coalition is solely about Mr President, a man who means so much to Osun State and Nigeria. Our alliance is about the presidential election, in which we have all agreed to support the re-election of President Tinubu.

“As coalition partners on the presidential election, we must remind ourselves that the partnership does not extend to the legislative elections. While we will join hands to deliver Mr President on his party platform, coalition partners are free to work for their party candidates during the senatorial, House of Reps and House of Assembly elections,” Adeleke stressed.

On the lingering local government crisis in the state, Adeleke disclosed that both the federal and state governments were working to resolve the impasse.

“Discussion has reached an advanced stage. Our dear state should expect good news very soon,” he assured.

He called for unity among Osun political actors, stating that the period is critical for the Yoruba race and Nigeria.

“From the pain of the past, we must unite for the prosperity of the future. From unity in diversity, we must forge a new brotherhood behind our leader, Asiwaju Tinubu,” he concluded.

In their separate remarks, pioneer National Chairman of the APC and former Osun governor, Chief Bisi Akande; former National Secretary of the APC, Senator Iyiola Omisore; and the incumbent National Secretary of the party, Senator Ajibola Basiru, charged party faithful to close ranks behind Governor Adeleke to secure victory for President Tinubu.
