The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator Ajibola Basiru, has described President Bola Tinubu’s decision to appoint Governor Ademola Adeleke as his campaign coordinator in Osun as an act of wisdom that all party members must respect.
Basiru stated this during the inauguration of the Osun State Presidential Campaign Council for President Tinubu’s re-election bid on Wednesday in Osogbo.
The APC national scribe noted that the occasion brought together all the relevant political stakeholders in the state, underscoring its importance.
“Everybody who matters in Osun politics is here today. As the National Secretary of the APC, I am, by my position, the most senior political office holder in Southern Nigeria today,” he said.
Basiru disclosed that he had to adjust his schedule to attend the inauguration despite having another official engagement in Kaduna.
“The Governor called me yesterday evening to inform me about this inauguration. I have an engagement in Kaduna State this afternoon, but I said I must be here this morning before proceeding to Kaduna because this is my base and we must prioritise it,” he noted.
He stressed that personal ambitions must be set aside in the interest of the President’s second-term bid.
“There is no ambition or ego that is greater than ensuring President Bola Tinubu is re-elected. It is in President Tinubu’s wisdom that he chose Governor Adeleke as his campaign coordinator in Osun. For us in Osun State, irrespective of our feelings, ambitions and scheming, we must abide by the vision of President Bola Tinubu,” he said.
