A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Osun State and former member of the House of Representatives, Ajibola Famurewa, has said any reasonable politician should have attended Thursday’s inauguration of the state’s Presidential Campaign Council in the state, irrespective of how the invitation was sent.
Famurewa, who stated this while featuring on Western Spring Television Morning Spring on Friday, said the presence of prominent party leaders at the event showed its importance and that no excuse for absence was tenable.
“If we are talking about who is who in Osun politics, they were all there yesterday except for a few.
“For me, in a gathering that had Baba Akande, Senator Omisore, Senator Aina, Mama Ponle and Sooko Adewoyin, any reasonable politician should drop whatever he is doing and rush to the place,” he stated.
The former lawmaker noted that if leaders like Chief Bisi Akande and Alhaji Shuaib Oyedokun could attend the inauguration, no party member had a justifiable reason to stay away.
“If Baba Akande and Shuaib Oyedokun could attend, I don’t see any excuse for anybody. The mode of invitation does not matter in this case. If you truly love your party, your state and the President, you will drop whatever you are doing and join forces with those people so that the job will be easier,” Famurewa added.
He maintained that those giving excuses for their absence were not being sincere, describing the council as a moving train that all genuine party faithful should join.
“Anybody making excuses, to me, that excuse is not tenable. It is a moving train. If they like, let them join; if they don’t, let them stay away,” he stated.
