The All Progressives Congress in Osun State and its governorship candidate for the August 15 election, Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO, have dismissed reports that they filed a petition challenging the outcome of the poll.
The Head of Media and Publicity, Osun APC Governorship Campaign Council, Remi Omowaiye, said the claim was false, mischievous and intended to mislead the public and create unnecessary tension in the state.
The statement stated categorically that neither the APC nor its candidate filed any petition at the Election Petition Tribunal.
“We state categorically wthat neither the All Progressives Congress nor its governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, filed any petition at the tribunal challenging the outcome of the August 15 governorship election,” the statement said.
The Council described the purported claim as “completely untrue” and nothing more than a rumour being circulated by individuals seeking to cause confusion.
It urged members of the public, supporters of the party and the media to discountenance the claim and refrain from giving credibility to unverified information.
The Campaign Council said the APC and AMBO remain committed to lawful and democratic processes and would continue to act responsibly in the interest of peace, stability and the good people of Osun State.
It further advised the public to rely only on official statements from the APC and the Campaign Council on matters concerning the party, its candidate and the outcome of the August 15 governorship election.
