The National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Rauf Aregbesola, has debunked claims that the party’s governorship candidate for the August 15 Osun election, Dr Najeem Salaam Iwaloye, is planning to withdraw or strike a deal with another party.
Speaking in Ejigbo, Egbedore Local Government during the ADC campaign tour on Friday, Aregbesola said the rumours were being spread by rival parties to create doubt and sway voters.
The former governor of Osun insisted that the ADC remains in the race to win and to deliver quality governance to Osun people, not to chase money.
Addressing a large crowd of supporters, the former Minister of Interior said the party was focused and could not be distracted.
“We are not in politics for money. We are only after how God will use us to prosper and set people free from bondages, and we won’t derail from that path,” he said.
Aregbesola stressed that the ADC was not in alliance with any party and was confident of victory.
“Anyone you see in our company is trustworthy. We are here to serve you. That is why we take your concerns seriously. We are not affiliated with any political party. No party can withstand our might,” he declared.
He recalled that he and his group left the ruling party when things went bad, adding that if they were after money, they would not have walked away.
“We were once with the ruling party, but we left when things got sour. If we are truly after money, we wouldn’t have left when we did. We are going into this election, and victory is ours!”
