The opposition All Progressives Congress in Osun State has dismissed Governor Ademola Adeleke’s allegations of political victimisation against President Bola Tinubu and Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, describing them as “misplaced and frivolous.”
The APC was reacting to Adeleke’s comments at a campaign rally in Osogbo on Monday, where he urged President Tinubu to intervene in the political crisis rocking the state.
The governor had accused Oyetola and some APC chieftains of being behind the alleged killing of Accord Party members and also faulted the police for compromise.
In a statement by its spokesperson, Kola Olabisi, the APC said Adeleke was responsible for fuelling and bankrolling political violence in the state. The party accused him of granting amnesty to dangerous political thugs serving jail terms in correctional centres across the state.
“The unsubstantiated allegations of the puppet Governor Adeleke, who covers his inadequacy by resorting to dancing when injection of intellect is needed against President Tinubu and Oyetola, amount to justification for his imminent defeat in the forthcoming governorship election,” Olabisi said.
The party stated that the fear of imminent loss was making the governor whip up sentiments, stressing that its candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, was hardworking and pragmatic, not bargaining for less, while Adeleke was wining and dining and frolicking with women of easy virtue across the globe instead of attracting investors.
