The gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Osun State, Mr Bola Oyebamiji, will today flag off the “AMBO Light Up Osun” pilot project in Iwo.
According to a statement by the co-chairperson, media and publicity committee, Osun APC governorship campaign council, Funke Egbemode, the project will focus on rural communities across the state.
The statement noted that the pilot phase will prioritise underserved rural areas to address the energy gap between urban and rural communities.
“The initiative is designed to ensure that rural dwellers also benefit directly from modern infrastructure,” Egbemode stated.
She noted that under the pilot scheme, 500 units of solar-powered streetlights will be installed in selected rural areas.
Egbemode added that the deployment is aimed at boosting night-time commerce, extending trading hours for local markets, and improving security in beneficiary communities.
