The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has commenced the distribution of Permanent Voter Cards in Osun State ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
The exercise covers eligible voters who registered, applied for transfer of registration, requested replacement of lost or damaged PVCs, or updated their details during the recently concluded Continuous Voter Registration.
The state Resident Electoral Commissioner, Oluwatoyin Babalola, announced on Monday that collection will begin at the Registration Area level across the state before moving to Local Government offices to make the process more accessible.
She said PVC collection at the 332 Registration Areas will run from Wednesday, July 22 to Tuesday, July 28, 2026, daily including weekends, between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
The REC added that the exercise will continue at all INEC Local Government Area offices from Wednesday, July 29 to Friday, August 7, 2026, also daily from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Babalola urged all eligible voters to collect their cards within the stipulated period, noting that the PVC remains the only valid means of accreditation on election day.
She also disclosed that previously uncollected PVCs from earlier exercises will be available during this period.
The REC warned that collection must be done in person by the registered voter, stressing that collection by proxy is not allowed.
“PVC collection is strictly personal and it is an offence to do otherwise,” she said.
