The All Progressives Congress in Osun State has accused Governor Ademola Adeleke of shielding suspected political thugs in the Government House and misleading a visiting British delegation on the state of security ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
The spokesperson of the party, Kola Olabisi, in a statement on Monday, described as “mischievous” the governor’s call for economic sanctions and visa bans against APC leaders over alleged involvement in political violence.
It would be recalled that Adeleke, during the visit of the team led by Senior Political Advisor, Wale Adebajo, asked the British government to sanction Minister Gboyega Oyetola, Senator Francis Fadahunsi, APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji, and Campaign DG Hon. Wole Oke.
But the APC, said the governor, was misinforming the delegation. He queried the basis for the allegations.
“If we may ask, which court or commission of enquiry indicted the APC chieftains as being responsible for aiding and abetting political violence in Osun State?” Olabisi asked.
The party alleged that the Adeleke administration has been frustrating the police by harbouring dangerous political hoodlums to evade arrest. He also accused the governor of omitting PDP-era violence, including the killing of over 30 APC members before the 2022 election.
The spokesperson further cited the ongoing trial of some of the governor’s aides in Abuja over the killing of APC chieftain, Hon. Remi Abass, and the recent killing of four APC members in Ilesa, allegedly by Accord Party thugs.
“Governor Adeleke is guilty of the crimes he is mischievously hanging on our party, leaders and members,” Olabisi stated.
