The Zenith Labour Party, ZLP, governorship candidate in Osun State, Engr. Olufemi Adesuyi has condemned the growing wave of political violence in the state, warning that no political ambition is worth the life of any citizen.
In a statement personally signed on Wednesday, Adesuyi described the recent attacks and killings in some parts of the state as worrisome and called for urgent intervention by security agencies.
He noted that if the trend continues unchecked, it could threaten the peace and democratic values Osun is known for, and also undermine the credibility of the August 15, 2026, governorship election.
According to him, politics should be about ideas and service to the people, not a do-or-die affair.
“We must not allow desperation to turn our democracy into a bloodbath. No position, no matter how highly placed, is worth wasting human blood for,” he said.
The ZLP candidate urged politicians to conduct themselves with decorum and respect for opponents.
“Power is transient. You cannot achieve your ambition by shedding the blood of innocent people. Let us allow the people to decide freely,” Adesuyi stated.
“Election Is Not War! Let us conduct ourselves peacefully before, during, and after the election. Political differences should never make us enemies. We are one people with a common destiny,” he added, while appealing to all parties to put Osun’s interest first.
Adesuyi specifically called on the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies to be proactive in maintaining law and order.
