A final year National Diploma student of Interlink College of Health Technology, Ijebu-Jesa, identified as Oluwaseun, died on Wednesday in a road accident.
Adetifa, who was driving a lady’s bike, was on his way back from a bank in Ilesa, where he had gone to pay his tuition, when he met with an accident involving a Toyota Hummer Bus with registration number FST-644YL.
The student was said to have died before he could get to the hospital.
The development, it was gathered, led to a protest by other students of the institution.
“The incident happened this morning. The school examination was to start this morning, and Adeife wanted to go and pay his tuition fee to be eligible to write the exam, but he met his untimely death.
“The Hummer Bus hit him, and efforts to rescue him proved abortive as he died before he could reach the hospital. I heard his parents are aware and he will be buried tomorrow,” a source who spoke on condition of anonymity said.
Meanwhile, the school’s management has announced a temporary closure following the incident.
In a statement signed on behalf of the school Registrar by Mr L. A. Balogun, the institution described the incident as unfortunate and expressed condolences to the bereaved family and the entire school community.
The management stated that the closure was necessary in honour of the deceased student and as a mark of respect during the mourning period.
Students were advised to remain calm and prayerful, while academic activities are expected to resume on Tuesday, May 19, 2026.
