The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, CFR, has congratulated retired Major General Adeyinka A. Famadewa on his appointment as Special Adviser on Homeland Security to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The Ife-born ex-army general was appointed by Tinubu on Monday, creating the role for the first time in Nigeria’s history at the federal level.
In a statement on Monday evening by the Director of Media and Public Affairs, Ooni’s Palace, Otunba Moses Olafare, the Ooni described the appointment as a well-deserved recognition of Famadewa’s years of sacrifice, professionalism and outstanding contributions to Nigeria’s security architecture.
The monarch said the retired army general has continued to distinguish himself as one of the finest sons of Ile-Ife through his dedication to national service and commitment to the security and unity of Nigeria.
“You are indeed a proud son of Ile-Ife whose remarkable service to the nation has brought honour and pride to the source,” the Ooni stated.
Ooni Ogunwusi commended President Tinubu for finding Famadewa worthy of the strategic national assignment, expressing confidence in the retired military officer’s ability to bring his vast experience in intelligence coordination, counter-terrorism and national security management to bear in the new role.
