The lawmaker representing Ife Federal Constituency, Hon. Taofeek Ajilesoro, has dismissed a viral video showing an individual prostrating for the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Mr Gboyega Oyetola.
In a statement issued by his media office on Monday, Ajilesoro said he was not the person seen in the video.
He accused the opposition of circulating the clip to mislead the public.
The statement read, “The individual seen prostrating in the video is NOT Hon. Taofeek Abimbola Ajilesoro. The opposition’s attempt to mislabel the person in the clip is a deliberate act of visual fraud designed to mislead the electorate.
“While the person in the video is NOT Hon. Ajilesoro, we maintain that His Excellency, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, is a revered father figure, mentor, and leader to the Honourable. Unlike the opposition, we do not mock the act of showing respect to elders; we celebrate it. However, we find it shameful that the opposition seeks to ridicule a core part of our heritage.
“For the record and clarity, His Excellency, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, is a respected father figure and political mentor to Hon. Ajilesoro, so they keep “a Father and Son relationship”. This attempt to “edit” an unknown video shows that the opposition has no record of achievements to campaign on, so they have resorted to digital manipulation and petty insults.
“Hon. Ajilesoro remains focused on his Third Term Agenda, a mandate driven by the massive support of APC Ward Chairmen, Women, and Youths who value progress over propaganda. The push for a third term is not a “selfish agenda”, it is a Constituency Mandate.
“While the opposition ‘lights’ their candles of lies, the sun of truth and performance continues to shine on Ife Federal Constituency. While you (Oppositions) spend your time on TikTok and video editing apps, Hon. Ajilesoro will continue to spend his time in the halls of the National Assembly and the streets of Ifeland, delivering for the people.”
