Osun FA decries state-owned clubs’ conditions under Adeleke’s deputy

The Osun State Football Association has decried the worsening conditions of the state-owned football clubs.

The Chairman of Osun FA, Mayor Sola Fanawopo, called on the Deputy Governor of the state, who doubles as the Commissioner for Sports, Prince Kola Adewusi, to immediately address the situation.

In a statement on Thursday, Osun FA said both Osun United and Osun Babes are currently battling relegation in their respective leagues due to poor welfare, inadequate support, and declining operational standards.

“The Osun State Football Association has called on the Deputy Governor, who also serves as Commissioner for Sports, to urgently intervene in the worsening conditions facing Osun United and Osun Babes.

“The Association warned that both state-owned teams are currently
battling relegation in their respective leagues due to poor welfare,
inadequate support, and declining operational standards,” the statement noted.

The statement further said, “It is important for the Honourable Deputy Governor to take a hands-on approach, visit the players’ hostels, inspect team buses, and attend matches to fully understand how critical the situation has become.”

The FA chairman noted that the current state of player welfare has negatively affected
morale and performance, putting both teams at serious risk.
