Two House of Representatives members from Osun East, Hon Taofeeq Ajilesoro and Hon Wole Oke recently met with the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola.
Although details of the meeting were not made available, Oke, who posted about the meeting with the leader of the All Progressives Congress in Osun State, wrote, “We met with our Leader. Osun East is in safe hands.”
Oke who is representing Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency in Osun State, in the post, said Osun East “is in safe hands”.
It would be recalled that Oke, a six-term lawmaker elected under the Peoples Democratic Party left the party for the APC.
He said he decided to leave the PDP after consulting with his political associates, friends, and family members.
Similarly, Hon. Ajilesoro, who is representing Ife Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, resigned from the PDP in July.
Ajilesoro’s resignation letter, dated July 22, 2025, and addressed to the PDP chairman of Ilare Ward II in Ife Central Local Government Area of Osun State, said persistent internal crises and legal battles within the party influenced his decision to quit.
Apart from Oke and Ajilesoro, other federal lawmakers from Osun East who were elected under the PDP but have resigned include Senator Francis Fadahunsi (Osun East) and Hon. Sanya Omirin.
The former PDP chieftains will hope to win the state back for their new party in the August 08, 2026, gubernatorial election.
