2026: Babayemi, Omisore, Oyebamiji intensify lobby for APC guber ticket

As the gubernatorial primary election of the All Progressives Congress in Osun State draws nearer, the race for who picks the ticket among the aspirants has thickened.

osun.life reports that APC in a recent release by its National Secretariat slated December 13, 2025, for its gubernatorial primary election in Osun State.

Meanwhile, at least 12 aspirants have shown interest in the ticket, with three in the past few weeks standing out among them in the area of consultation with members of the party.

As the date for the primary draws nearer, Bola Oyebamiji, Iyiola Omisore, and Dotun Babayemi have continued to intensify their efforts in clinching the ticket, with some party members saying the ticket is between the three APC chieftains.

One of the major aspirants for the APC gubernatorial ticket is the current Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority, Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO).

The former Commissioner of Finance in the state, since he announced his intention to contest the August 08, 2026, election, has been touring local governments in the state to consult with members of the party.

The Ikire-born politician and his campaign team have toured 29 local governments and one Area Office, with the aspirant set to conclude his tour on Sunday with a visit to Ayeedade local government.

The banker has, during his tour, promised to run an inclusive government if he gets the party ticket and eventually wins the gubernatorial election.

Apart from Oyebamiji, another aspirant who has been consulting widely is the immediate past National Secretary of the APC, Otunba Iyiola Omisore.

Arguably, the most experienced amongst those eyeing the APC governorship ticket, Omisore last week commenced his tour of local governments ahead of the primary election.

The Ile-Ife-born politician, who recently declared his intention to run for the governorship position, had met with wards and local government chairmen of the APC.

The former deputy governor has at different fora claimed he is best suited for the job and also boasted of having the backing of President Bola Tinubu.

Concluding the trio is Omooba Dotun Babayemi who hails from Gbongan, headquarters of Ayedaade Local Government of the state.

A legal practitioner, financial strategist, and information & communication technologist, Babayemi is a former gubernatorial aspirant under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The politician has toured 30 local governments, one area office, and over 200 wards to consult with party members.

Babayemi has, during his consultation visits, harped on unity among the aspirants and members of the APC in Osun State.

With less than two months to the primary, it is expected that there would be an increased drive in efforts by the notable aspirants and several others who are contesting for the prized guber ticket of the APC in Osun State.
