Court suspends 2025/2026 admission in OAU, UNILAG

The Federal High Court sitting in Enugu has ordered Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU, the University of Lagos, UNILAG, and the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, to suspend all admission processes for the 2025/2026 academic session.

The court order was posted on X by an education technology expert and the Chief Executive Officer of Educare, Alex Onyia.

The order was issued by Justice A.T. Segun-Bello on Tuesday, following an ex parte motion filed by a group of candidates, Chibuzor Success, Oyeleye Zainab Ayomide, Adedeji John Samuel, Monsura Aliat Aduragbem, and Bassey Daniel Nsikak, on behalf of other affected applicants of the 2025 post-UTME examinations of both universities.

The applicants had sought interim injunctions restraining the institutions and JAMB from releasing, approving, uploading, or finalizing any admission list for the new session.

Justice Segun-Bello, while ruling on the application, held that there was a “veritable and triable issue” requiring both sides to be heard and directed the applicants to put the respondents on notice.

The judge further ordered all parties to maintain the status quo, preserving the current state of affairs regarding the 2025/2026 admission list, pending the hearing of the substantive motion.

The case was adjourned to October 28, 2025, for hearing.
