The Osun State Southwest Security Network (Amotekun) has announced the arrest of a 32-year-old man, Nurudeen Olawale, for attempting to steal money from a mosque.
Olawale was said to have attempted to steal in a mosque at the Ogo Oluwa area of Osogbo, the capital of Osun State.
According to a statement by the Osun Amotekun spokesperson, Yusuf Idowu, the suspect, a resident of Ibadan, was caught in the act by worshippers observing the morning prayers.
He noted that the worshipers alerted the Amotekun operatives, who responded swiftly and arrested him on the spot.
The statement added that Olawale confessed to the crime and admitted it was not his first time targeting religious spaces.
The Corps Commander of Osun Amotekun, Adekunle Omoyele, praised the vigilance and dedication of the corps’ operatives.
He commended their swift response and successful arrest, noting that the suspect will be arraigned after investigations.
