A gubernatorial aspirant under the platform of the All Progressives Congress, Prince Dotun Babayemi has disclosed that the leadership of the party in Osun State will determined who picks the ticket for the August 08, 2026 election.
Babayemi disclosed this on Friday while addressing members of the APC in Osogbo Local Government Area.
Making reference to what had happened in the past, the governorship hopeful said in 2006, the leaders of the APC picked former governor Rauf Aregbesola, even when party members thought Mr Kunle Ige would be the candidate.
Babayemi urged the APC members, particularly supporters of the gubernatorial aspirants in the party to stop fighting themselves, noting that the aspirants were ready to supply any person picked by the party Leaders.
He said, “In 2006, everyone thinks Kunle Ige will be the gubernatorial candidate of the APC but when the leaders of the party met at Baba Shuaib Oyedokun’s house, they settled for Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola and we all supported him.
“Thirteen people have come out to show insterest now and I can tell you that the leaders will seat down as usual and at the end of the day, one person will be picked.
“I want to tell you that the other 12 aspirants will support that one person who will be picked. The reason is that the other aspirants will have a role to perform in the government once APC wins.
“You might be reading different stories on social media but I want to tell you that there is no fight among we aspirants. I want to urged you not to fight yourselves because of the aspirants.”
