The Editor of Osun Spring newspaper, Adesola Isola, was on Thursday arraigned before a Magistrate Court in Osogbo for allegedly publishing false and malicious information against the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola.
Isola was arraigned by State Police Command in case number MOS/498/2025.
It was gathered that the journalist was arraigned over a story in the August 1-15 edition of the newspaper.The story was titled, “Osun 2026: We will rig Adeleke out using Police, INEC – Oyetola”.The report claimed that the Minister had entered into an alleged pact with the Nigeria Police Force and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to manipulate the forthcoming 2026 governorship election in Osun State.During proceedings today, Isola pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The presiding Magistrate, Dr. A. O. Ayilara granted the defendant bail in the sum of ₦500,000 with one surety in like sum.
The matter was adjourned to Tuesday, September 2, 2025, for further hearing.
