Former Secretary to the Osun State Government, Alhaji Fatai Akinbade, has commiserated with the leadership and members of the state People’s Democratic Party(PDP), over the demise of the pioneer chairman of the party, Chief Layi Ogunrinade.
For Ogunrinade’s pioneering efforts which put the party on a firmer footing, Akinbade called on the State Chapter of the PDP, to immortalise him as way of keeping him in people’s memory.
Besides, the erstwhile SSG who succeeded Ogunrinade as the PDP Chairman in 2001, also condoled the family of the deceased.
Akinbade who extolled the virtues of late Ogunrinade, pointed out that the foundation he laid, contributed largely to the success the party recorded at the 2003 polls which culminated in the party’s sweeping victory.
“Chief Ogunrinade’s political clout was too evident till he breathed his last. To this effect, his passage will no doubt, create a big vacuum. One of the best ways of keeping him in memory,is to immortalise him. He deserves it” he maintained.
While praying for the repose of the late Ogunrinade, Akinbade urged members of the party to emulate his steadfastness and doggedness as a thoroughbred politician, statesman and community leader.
