Salam appeals Tribunal judgment, urges supporters to remain calm

The Member representing Ede North/Ede South/Egbedore/Ejigbo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Bamidele Salam has approached the Court of Appeal to set aside the September 2 judgment of the Election Petition Tribunal that nullified his election and ordered rerun elections in 12 Polling Units of the Federal Constituency.

Salam in his Appeal cited 38 grounds of Appeal, covering errors in Law, misapplication of Laws, clear bias where the Tribunal was making case for the Petitioner and wrong interpretation of the Laws and Guidelines covering election processes in Nigeria.

It would be recalled that the Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Osogbo, Osun State had on the 2nd day of September 2019, nullified the election of Hon. Bamidele Salam as a member of the House of Representatives and ordered rerun elections in 12 Polling Units across the four Local Governments in the Federal Constituency.

Speaking about the Appeal, Hon. Bamidele Salam stated that “having carefully studied the Judgment of the Tribunal, we are confident that it cannot stand superior legal scrutiny and that is why we have approached the Court of Appeal. We are certain Justice will be done in this matter.”

“I have absolute confidence in God who has given me this mandate of service to the people. I am also confident that the Judiciary will do appropriate Justice in the matter. I therefore call on party faithful and supporters to remain calm as our mandate is safe by the grace of God”, he concluded.
