In order to drastically reduce the number of mother to child transmission of HIV/AIDS infection in Osun state, the Osun State Agency for the control of AIDS in collaboration with the Ministry of Health has commenced a three-day capacity building workshop for officers of Antenatal HIV Counselling and Testing across all the local governments in the State.
The training programme which was supported by Save One million Lives Programme, (SOML) started on Thursday at 15th of August 2019 at the conference room of Palm Crest Hotel along Gbongan-Ibadan, Owode-Ede area of Osun State.
The capacity-building workshop tagged” Scale-up intervention for Antenatal clinic Attendance and HIV Counselling and Testing using Community mobilizer” had in attendance topnotch health officials from the state and allied organizations.
While giving his opening remarks, the Executive Secretary of Osun State Agency for the control of AIDS (O-SACA), Dr. Monsuru Bello stated that the objective of the training was to reduce the number of mother to child transmission of HIV/AIDS infection in Osun state.
He, therefore, enjoined the participants to make use of knowledge acquires through the training and share it with people in they are a community.
The Permanent Secretary, Osun State Ministry of Health, Mr. Adegoke, who was represented by Director of Public Health Dr. Gbenga Adepoju applauded the Management of O-SACA for organising such eye opener training on how to save lives of unborn child also prevent Infant from infection of HIV/AIDS from they are Mother.
In his address, the Project Manager of Osun State Agency for the control of AIDS, Dr. Akin Oyebade appreciated the participants for their collaboration with the State Agency for the control of HIV/AIDS and implored them to work on how to prevent the infant from infection of HIV/AIDS through their Mother in their communities.
In his own contribution, the programme Manager of Save One million lives in Osun State, Dr. Abiodun Boladale said the programme is not only for testing pregnant women alone rather result should be transmitted to them whether the result is positive or negative.
