The Osun State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a 45-year-old man, Adeyemo Mukaila, for allegedly defiling a teenager.
The incident occurred in Ikire, headquarters of Irewole Local Government Area of Osun State.
Police spokesperson, Abiodun Ojelabi, who confirmed the development in a statement on Wednesday, said the suspect is a friend of the victim’s grandmother with whom the victim lives and frequently visits the home.
Ojelabi explained that sometime in September 2026, the suspect allegedly lured the victim to his house under the pretext of helping him get some items and had carnal knowledge of her.
The statement further disclosed that on October 2, 2026, which was the victim’s birthday, she informed the suspect and requested a birthday gift.
“He gave her One Thousand Naira (N1,000) and demanded a gift in return. She bought him biscuits and took them to his workshop around Ilupeju area of Ikire,” the police said.
The suspect was alleged to have dragged her into a nearby bush close to the workshop and had carnal knowledge of her.
He was said to have fled into the bush after noticing that people had seen them.
“Commuters who saw the victim asked her what happened, which she explained to them before they went after the suspect, arrested him and handed him over to the Police,” the statement added.
