The Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Osun State Command, Toma Enya, has charged officers and men of the Command to uphold the fundamental human rights of the public and maintain the highest standards of professionalism.
A statement by the command spokesperson, Kehinde Adeleke, noted that Enya gave the charge during the Command’s muster parade at the State Headquarters in Osogbo, where he reiterated his administration’s zero tolerance for indiscipline, abuse of authority and unprofessional conduct.
According to the statement, the commandant, after the parade, held a meeting with senior officers, Area Commanders and Divisional Officers across the state, where he emphasised strict adherence to the Corps’ operational procedures, extant laws and professional standards.
He stated that no officer has the liberty to conduct official duties in a manner capable of undermining public confidence or bringing the name of the Corps into disrepute.
“Any personnel found wanting in the discharge of their responsibilities, particularly through acts of indiscipline, abuse of authority or violation of the rights of members of the public, will be made to face appropriate disciplinary measures in accordance with extant laws and regulations,” the Osun NSCDC boss said.
The Commandant further directed Area Commanders and Divisional Officers to take firm control of their respective Areas of Responsibility and ensure effective supervision of personnel and strict compliance with operational procedures.
He stressed that the authority vested in officers must be exercised with professionalism, restraint and respect for fundamental human rights, adding that their conduct directly reflects the image of the Corps.
Enya urged all personnel to remain disciplined, accountable and responsive to the public, noting that the trust reposed in the NSCDC must be justified through professional and responsible service.
