More than 200 residents of Akinlalu and neighbouring communities in Ife North Local Government Area of Osun State have benefited from a free medical outreach organised by the Deputy Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Hon. Oyewusi Akinyode and the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
The outreach, held on Friday at Akinlalu Secondary Commercial College, featured medical consultations, health screening, laboratory investigations, pharmaceutical services and health education.
Ahead of the exercise, NYSC officials, Corps Members and members of the NYSC band held a sensitisation rally across the community to create awareness.
In his remarks, the Alakinla of Akinlalu, Oba Oluwabusola Oloyede, appreciated the NYSC and the Deputy Speaker for bringing the initiative to the community.
He urged residents to take advantage of the opportunity and adhere to medical advice.
Flagging off the outreach, the Osun State NYSC Coordinator, Mr Ekeng Ita Kubiangha, commended Hon. Oyewusi for sponsoring the programme and supporting the scheme’s efforts to improve the well-being of rural dwellers.
The beneficiaries’ vital signs were checked with medical consultations, laboratory tests and drug also dispensed to them.
Health talks focused on balanced nutrition, regular physical activity, personal hygiene, hypertension and mental health.
On his part, Hon. Oyewusi thanked the people of Akinlalu for their support and urged them to make good use of the services.
He stressed the importance of regular medical check-ups and cautioned against self-medication.
The outreach highlights NYSC’s commitment to community development and its role in improving access to basic healthcare in rural communities.
