The Osun State Police Command has arrested one Waliyi Adejare, also known as Jay Jay, over the death of Mr Olalekan Oyeyemi, popularly known as Emir Ajagungbade.
It was gathered that Adejare, an ally of the factional chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers in the state, Nurudeen Alowonle, is one of the primary suspects in the murder of the late Oyeyemi.
He was arrested at the Oke Baale area of Osogbo on Thursday.
Confirming Adejare’s arrest to journalists in Osogbo on Thursday, the command spokesperson, Abiodun Ojelabi, said, “JJ has been arrested, and we are trying to investigate whether he is involved in the killing of Ajagungbade Emir. He was arrested in the Oke Baale area of Osogbo.”
Ojelabi assured the public that other suspects involved in the alleged murder of Oyeyemi would be arrested soon.
“This is just the beginning. We’ve promised the public that all those involved, regardless of their status, will be made to face the full wrath of the law,” the Osun police spokesman added.
It would be recalled that Oyeyemi, an ally of Governor Ademola Adeleke, was shot dead on September 13, during a clash involving him and a group led by another leader of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, identified by his nickname, Sibi, at the Mayfair Motor Park in Ile-Ife.
His remains were interred at his newly completed residence in the Agunbelewo area of Osogbo, according to traditional rites the following day.
