The Osun State House of Assembly has passed the Osun State Integrated Transport, Traffic and Park Management Bill, 2026.
The bill was passed on Wednesday during plenary after scaling its third reading.
Its passage followed extensive deliberations at second reading on the need to establish a structured framework for managing motor parks, garages, traffic and transport-related activities across the state.
The bill which was sponsored by the Chairman, House Committee on Works and Transport, Hon. Abiola Ibrahim, seeks to provide a comprehensive management system for the transport sector, particularly in the areas of motor parks administration, traffic management and revenue collection.
Ibrahim, during the debate, explained that the legislation would help regulate revenue from motor parks, block leakages in the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) and provide a more accountable system for collecting and managing transport-related revenues.
The bill also seeks to promote the digitalisation of the ticketing system and establish a more organised structure for operating motor parks across the state.
It further provides measures to curb thuggery, violence, extortion and other unlawful activities associated with motor parks and garages.
Lawmakers stressed the importance of maintaining order and safety within parks and garages, particularly in light of recent disputes over the control and management of some parks in the state.
Following its passage, the final copy of the bill will be transmitted to Governor Ademola Adeleke for his assent, the Speaker said.
