The mother of the murdered Accord Party chieftain in Osun State, Olalekan Oyeyemi, popularly known as Emir, has spoken for the first time since his death at a motor park in Ile-Ife.
Oyeyemi, who was an ally of Governor Ademola Adeleke, was brutally killed on Sunday at a garage in Ile-Ife, following a tussle over the leadership of the transport union in the state.
In a video now circulating on social media, his mother, seen seated among mourners, said she had a premonition about her son’s death.
Speaking in Yoruba with tears in her eyes, she said she had long feared that harm would befall him and had made efforts to prevent it.
“I already knew my son’s blood would be among the blood that would be shed. I tried my best as a mother to stop it. I can show you my phone for evidence of all my efforts.
“But despite everything I did, God knows best. I just don’t want my son’s death to affect Governor Adeleke’s administration,” she said.
