The Alayemore of Ido-Osun, Oba Dr Olayinka Oyetunde, has raised concern over alleged encroachment on government land acquired for aviation purposes in Ido-Osun.
The traditional ruler raised the concern during a courtesy visit to the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, in Abuja on Tuesday, according to a statement by the Palace Director of Media, Prince Okunoye Adesoji.
Oba Oyetunde told the minister that the land, which forms part of the government aviation acquisition, was being encroached upon by private interests laying claims to portions of it.
The monarch alleged that some individuals involved in the dispute were using security agencies to intimidate members of the community and to create the impression that the traditional institution was attempting to take over ancestral property.
He described the narrative as unfortunate and capable of inflaming tension, insisting that any dispute over ownership or boundaries should be subjected to documentary verification and due process.
Oba Jokotola appealed to Keyamo and Governor Ademola Adeleke to urgently intervene to establish and protect the status of the aviation land, stressing that the palace has no interest in taking anybody’s legitimate property.
