The Osun State Police Command has arrested five suspects over the alleged assault on a beer parlour owner, Ibironke Arowolo, at Ori-Eru Junction, Iwo.
The Command’s spokesperson, Abiodun Ojelabi, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Gotan Zungura.
Ojelabi said a case of assault occasioning harm was initially reported at the Iwo Divisional Police Headquarters by one Ayetimiyi Oluwakemi against a hotel owner, Ajani Saheed.
He said the case was subsequently transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, for discreet investigation.
According to the Command, investigation revealed that two factions of commercial motorcyclists had been involved in a longstanding dispute over customers at Ori-Eru Junction.
One faction, police said, was supported by Saheed, a 41-year-old hotel owner at the junction, while the other was allegedly supported by Arowolo, who owns a beer parlour in the same area.
The dispute, police added, resurfaced on September 6, 2026, while efforts were being made to resolve it.
“During the confrontation, Saheed was allegedly injured on the head with a broken bottle by Samuel Ayetimiyi.
“Supporters of Saheed, including Sodiq Yusuf and Olagoke Kolawole, allegedly invaded Arowolo’s shop after seeing that Saheed had been injured,” the statement said.
The Command stated that Arowolo was allegedly assaulted and sustained injuries to her face and other parts of her body, resulting in her admission to hospital for treatment.
