The senator representing Osun West Senatorial District, Lere Oyewumi, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the ongoing reconstruction of the Ibadan–Ikire–Ife–Ilesha Road.
In a statement on his Facebook page on Monday, Oyewumi, who is the Senate deputy minority leader, described the project as a timely intervention that will bring relief to millions of commuters and businesses in the South West.
The lawmaker recalled that he had raised motions on the floor of the Senate on more than three occasions to draw attention to the deplorable condition of the road and the hardship it had caused road users and communities along the corridor.
“I am pleased to see that action is being taken to address this long-standing challenge,” Oyewumi said.
“This reconstruction will not only improve transportation but also boost economic activities, enhance connectivity, and improve the lives of millions of people across the four states.”
He expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for heeding the calls of stakeholders and assured that constituents look forward to the speedy and successful completion of the project.
