Governor Ademola Adeleke has ordered the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs to investigate the dispute over the kingship of Koka town in Obokun Local Government.
The directive was issued on Sunday in a statement by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, shortly before the governor departed for a vacation in Europe.
According to the statement, the governor will be in the United Kingdom during the short break and will also undergo medical check-ups.
The ministry was tasked with probing the circumstances surrounding the reported appointment of another monarch for Koka Ilase, which has allegedly resulted in two claimants to the stool in the same town.
“I am taking a short break to refresh and get further prepared to serve the good people of Osun State.
“I read of another King appointed outside the one on the stool. The ministry is hereby directed to look into the dispute and issue a report to set the records straight,” the governor said.
He urged all stakeholders to remain peaceful while the investigation is ongoing.
“Kingship is governed by extant laws and regulations, and the government will stand by the law and tradition of our people,” Adeleke stated.
