Alleged murder: Osun court orders police to release Tanfeani’s case file to DPP in 24 hours

A Chief Magistrate’s Court in Osogbo has ordered the Osun State Commissioner of Police to transfer the original case file of Saheed Kareem, popularly known as Tanfeani, to the Director of Public Prosecutions within 24 hours.

The order was given on Monday, August 31, 2026, by Dr. O. A. Ayilara, Chief Magistrate I, in suit No. MOS/M.808/2026, following an ex-parte application filed by the State.

The court said it was surprised the application was coming up again, recalling that it had earlier directed the transfer of the file to the DPP.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the 2nd Respondent, Commissioner of Police, Osun State Command is hereby ordered to transfer the original case file in the case of Saheed Kareem AKA Tanfeani to the Office of the DPP, Osun State within 24 hours of receiving the enrolled order of this court so that the office of the DPP will be able to do her lawful duty,” the court ruled.

Tanfeani is being held in connection with the death of 14-year-old Olapade Ezekiel, who was killed on June 21, 2026, during violence around the Irepodun Local Government Secretariat in Ilobu.

The police had earlier paraded Kareem alongside other suspects arrested over alleged political thuggery and violent offences.
