The Osun State All Progressives Congress has welcomed the endorsement of its candidate, Mr Bola Oyebamiji, popularly called AMBO, by former Governor Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola and several other prominent political leaders from the PDP and Accord Party.
In a statement on Saturday by the APC Governorship Campaign Council, party described the development as a major boost to the movement for a new direction in Osun ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
It listed other endorsers to include former Senator representing Osun West, Senator Olasunkanmi Akinlabi; former Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Fatai Akinbade; and former PDP National Vice Chairman and Oluomo of Osogboland, Alhaji Tajudeen Oladipo.
The Council said the endorsements showed that the election is no longer about partisan politics alone, but about rescuing the state from an administration that has lost the confidence of citizens across political divides.
It noted that many of those now backing Oyebamiji were once supporters of Governor Ademola Adeleke.
According to the Council, Oyinlola endorsed AMBO as an Omoluabi with the character, competence and vision to meet the aspirations of Osun people, and expressed confidence in his 7-Point Prosperity Agenda to drive sustainable economic growth.
The Council noted that Oyinlola is the third former Osun governor to back AMBO, after Chief Bisi Akande and Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola. It called on voters to support AMBO and the APC on August 15, saying the convergence of former governors, legislators and party leaders around him reflects a broad movement for change and economic prosperity in Osun.
