The Osun State Commissioner for Environment and Sanitation, Hon. Mayowa Adejoorin, was reportedly arrested by men said to be acting under the authority of the Inspector General of Police.
Adejoorin, who doubles as a leader of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s campaign in Obokun LGA, was said to have been intercepted while leaving Ilesa.
The spokesman of the Imole Campaign Council, Pelumi Olajengbesi, in a post on his Facebook page, alleged that the Commissioner’s driver and security aides were humiliated before he was whisked away without any known offence disclosed.
The Council’s spokesperson described the incident as “abuse of power, intimidation and harassment” and demanded an immediate end to the alleged abductions in the state.
“We call on the Inspector General of Police to put an immediate end to the senseless arrests. Enough is enough!” he wrote.
