The Accord Party in Osun State has accused the All Progressives Congress, APC, of importing and harbouring suspected election result hackers in a hotel in Osogbo ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
The party made the allegation in a statement issued on Saturday by its state chairman, Pastor Victor Akande.
Akande claimed that credible intelligence showed that the hackers were brought in from Lagos and Abuja to compromise the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) digital system.
“The hackers were brought in from Lagos and Abuja, and they have set up an operational centre at the hotel. Their target is to compromise the INEC electronic system to impute fake election results into the INEC server,” the statement said.
Accord called on INEC to strengthen the security of its ICT infrastructure and urged security agencies to raid the hotel and other alleged illegal centres.
“We also call on security agencies to raid the hotel and other illegal centres to stop the ongoing anti-democracy activities,” Akande added.
The party said it remains ready to mobilise voters for the poll and warned that any attempt to hack or manipulate next Saturday’s election would be resisted by the people of Osun.
