The Osun State APC Governorship Campaign Council has accused Governor Ademola Adeleke of resorting to “desperate vote-buying” through oath-taking videos, saying it confirms the governor’s imminent defeat in the August 15 election.
The Council, in a statement on Friday, expressed concern over videos circulating on social media showing groups of citizens swearing oaths of allegiance to support and vote for Governor Adeleke and the Accord Party.
It described the act as “dastardly and crude” and an affront to democratic values that guarantee citizens the freedom to vote without coercion, intimidation or manipulation.
According to the Council, the development shows that Governor Adeleke has seen “the unmistakable handwriting of defeat on the wall” and has failed to convince the people with his record in office.
“It is tragic that after almost four years in office, a government that has impoverished thousands of Osun residents has reduced the same people to invoking severe curses upon themselves to support the Accord Party,” the statement said.
The Council also likened the oath-taking to an earlier alleged vote-inducement where civil servants were reportedly given ₦20,000 to secure their votes. It faulted the governor for allegedly spending over ₦11.9 billion on travels and hotel accommodation in 2025.
It stated that no amount of inducement, intimidation, or spiritual manipulation can erase the realities confronting the Osun people, adding that the electorate are aware of the state of governance and unmet expectations.
The Council urged security agencies, election observers and stakeholders to investigate all forms of voter inducement, coercion and intimidation to ensure the election remains a contest of ideas and performance.
It expressed confidence that Osun voters will elect the APC candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, AMBO, on August 15, describing him as the candidate for competence, accountability and genuine development.
