The All Progressives Congress in Osun State and the Accord Party have traded blame over allegations of political violence and killings ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship election.
The APC, in a statement on Sunday by its spokesperson, Kola Olabisi, challenged Governor Ademola Adeleke to account for what it described as a “hoodlum-friendly administration” since November 2022.
The party alleged that the governor relies on his siblings to run government due to incompetence and has failed to condemn attacks on APC members.
The APC claimed that no fewer than 30 of its members were killed by PDP thugs during the 2022 election, with 17 of the victims from Ijesaland.
It further accused Adeleke of benefiting from “electoral terrorism” in 2022 with support from allies in Abuja, and alleged that voting in Ede and Owode extended till 11pm under heavy security.
Responding, the Accord Party accused the APC of orchestrating a reign of terror against its members and residents.
The state chairman ofthe Accord Party, Pastor Victor Akande, in a statement, said the killings, arrests and attacks on Osun people won’t stop the re-election of Governor Ademola Adeleke.
Akande alleged that the APC was violence-prone, claiming the party killed over 40 Accord members in 2022 without any prosecution.
He added that in 2026, Accord lost eight members while over 20 others suffered gunshot wounds.
The Accord chairman further alleged that APC thugs, “supported by certain elements within the state police command,” were illegally arresting members and shooting at the public in AMBO-branded vehicles.
