The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Senator Ajibola Basiru, has urged residents of Osun State to critically assess the state government’s spending and demand value for public resources ahead forthcoming governorship poll.
Senator Basiru made the call on Thursday at the campaign rally of the party across the Iwo/Ola-Oluwa/Ayedire Federal Constituency to canvass support for the APC gubernatorial candidate, Mr Bola Oyebamiji.
“As I joined the campaign train of the All Progressives Congress across the Iwo/Ola-Oluwa/Ayedire Federal Constituency to drum up support for our candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, I charged the good people of Osun to critically examine the enormous resources accruing to the state vis-à-vis the projects being showcased as achievements by the present administration,” Basiru wrote in a post on his Facebook page.
The former Senate Spokesperson said Osun people deserve accountability for every allocation to the state.
“Our people deserve value for every kobo that comes into Osun,” he added.
Speaking on youth development, Senator Basiru said there is an urgent need to create more opportunities for young people through sustainable job creation, skills development, entrepreneurship support, and access to finance.
“The future of Osun cannot be secured with token gestures; it requires deliberate policies that empower the youth to become productive contributors to our economy,” he stated.
He presented the election as a choice between optics and real development, and called on voters to support the APC in the August 15 gubernatorial election.
“The choice before us is simple: a government that merely celebrates projects or one that delivers transformational development. Together, let us support AMBO and the APC to build an Osun where prosperity is shared, opportunities abound, and every community feels the impact of good governance,” Basiru said.
