Osun NSCDC declares full operational readiness for August 15 poll

The Osun State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, has declared full operational readiness ahead of the August 15 governorship election, with a vow to ensure a peaceful, credible and violence-free poll.

A statement by the command spokesperson, Kehinde Adeleke, noted that the state Commandant, CC Igbalawole Sotiyo, gave the assurance during the Command’s weekly radio programme, “The Defender on Radio,” on Living Spring 104.5FM, Osogbo.

Sotiyo, who was represented by Assistant Commandant of Corps, ACC Moses Oladoye, said the Corps has intensified operations across the state to guarantee adequate security before, during and after the election. He added that personnel have been strategically deployed to cover flashpoints and sensitive areas.

According to him, the NSCDC will work in close collaboration with other security agencies and stakeholders to protect lives and property, safeguard critical national assets and infrastructure, and secure electoral officials, materials and voters throughout the process.

The Commandant warned individuals or groups planning to cause trouble before, during or after the election to desist, and urged all stakeholders to embrace peace and abide by the law.
