Osun 2026: Oyetola’s wife unveils 10,000 ‘Akoni Obinrin’ canvassers for AMBO’s campaign

The wife of the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy and former first lady of Osun State, Mrs Kafayat Oyetola, has unveiled a 10,000-member women’s mobilisation group, Akoni Obinrin, to drum up grassroots support for the APC governorship candidate in the state, Mr Bola Oyebamiji, ahead of the August 15 election.

Mrs Oyetola led the launch alongside the candidate’s wife, Alhaja Sekinat Oyebamiji; wife of the deputy governorship candidate, Princess Adebukola Adereti; Hon. Ayo Omidiran; Hon. Taiwo Oluga; and other APC leaders.

Addressing journalists, Mrs Oyetola said Akoni Obinrin was first formed to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election but has now been deployed to strengthen AMBO’s campaign at the grassroots.

She said the group has coordinators and assistants across the state’s 62 local council development areas and coordinators in all 3,763 polling units.

“With this structure in place, we have 10,000 canvassers who will work for AMBO,” she said, adding that their focus is voter education to prevent voided ballots.

Alhaja Sekinat Oyebamiji said the initiative would boost women’s participation in the poll and sustain momentum for President Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid.
